Flash Fiction

Searching for Respect
There was once a man who went by the name of Anderson he lived alone in a small town where people were quick to judge and unfortunately he had a poor reputation in the town, no one respected him. Anderson did everything alone but he got very sick of the lack of respect people had for him in the town, so he decided to do something about it. Anderson looked throughout the town for someone, anyone who could help him, he tried so hard to gain the respect of others, but he could never understand what more it would take, eventually he gave up... One day Anderson was walking through the park with his head down, looking quite sad and pathetic, but he came across a wise old man who asked him "whats the matter young man...?" Anderson replied, "what is the matter?! I cant get a single person to respect me in this town!" The old man could look right through Anderson, he knew what kind of person he was. The wise old man responded  "If one doesn't respect oneself one can have neither love nor respect for others". Anderson looked at the wise old man, he knew that was it, that's what he had been doing wrong... disrespecting himself.
