...This movie does a very good job of exemplifying respect for others. This story is about a man, a coach, and a father all in one that goes back to his old high school to become the senior boys basketball coach. This is a very unsuccessful, poorly funded basketball program at the school, and academically there are not many outstanding students. The young men on the basketball team are all from rough neighbourhoods and were poorly raised, there biggest issue...respecting each other. This movie describes the story of this team going from bad to good, and these young men become very changed individuals, not just because of the athletic improvement but the change that happened as people. They learned to not only have respect for each other, but also for there coach and it resulted in large amounts of respect. Although they did not win state championships the message that's being sent is they became someone, these men gave themselves the option to have a post secondary education by learning to respect there teachers. They developed great communication skills by respecting there teammates. They learned to respect themselves as people by making the right decisions on and off the court that will impact there future. In conclusion, respect can take you a very long way...
